Registration now open for Hospice of Michigan’s free one-day camp
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (May 6, 2019) – Hospice of Michigan, the state’s original and largest hospice provider, is accepting applications from now until Thursday, May 30 for its annual Camp Good Grief, which will be held on Monday, June 17 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Camp Newaygo, 5333 S. Centerline Rd. in Newaygo, Michigan. The camp is open to any child dealing with grief, regardless of whether or not their loved one received care from Hospice of Michigan. Camp Good Grief is a free, one-day camp for children ages 8-17 that combines a variety of fun activities with grief education and emotional support. All activities are facilitated by caring and qualified Hospice of Michigan grief professionals and trained volunteers, along with the experienced staff at Camp Newaygo. Throughout the day, campers will enjoy fun and adventurous recreation including arts and crafts, rock climbing, canoeing and other team-building activities. The camp gives children an opportunity to address their feelings, remember their loved ones and create friendships that last long after camp is over.
Campers will also participate in special activities meant to aid in the healing process, such as gathering around a healing circle to write a letter to their loved one and making memory boxes in their honor.
Breakfast, lunch and a snack are included with registration.
