Lora Cabarios Joins Hospice of Michigan Foundation as Philanthropy Director for Major Gifts

Detroit, February 6, 2014 – Lora Cabarios has joined Hospice of Michigan Foundation as philanthropy director for major gifts.

In this new role, Cabarios is responsible for leading the regional major gifts program for the HOM Foundation, including local development and implementation of the program, donor development and working with the Foundation board and committees to lead innovative fundraising programs. Based in Detroit, she will concentrate her efforts in Southeast Michigan.

Cabarios brings eight years of experience in development and 14 years in special events to her new role with HOM. Prior to joining the organization, she spent eight years with the Beaumont Foundation, most recently serving as senior associate director of development. In this role she managed a portfolio of more than 100 prospects and developed and implemented targeted strategies for solicitation of gifts ranging up to $150,000. She also managed special events, including large- and small-scale fundraisers, recognition and donor cultivation events.

Additionally, Cabarios coordinated special events and public relations initiatives for Art Van Furniture, managing the execution of all company events at store locations across Michigan.

Cabarios holds a bachelor of applied arts in interpersonal and public communication from Central Michigan University.

A native of Sterling Heights, she currently resides in Macomb Township with her daughters, Bianca and Carina.
