June B. Hamersma Legacy Society

The June B. Hamersma Legacy Society recognizes individuals who have named Hospice of Michigan as a beneficiary in their estate plans, trusts or wills. These individuals share in June’s vision of leaving a legacy for the future of Hospice of Michigan. The June B. Hamersma Legacy Society offers exclusive communications, special events, and public or private recognition of the donor’s commitment.

About June B. Hamersma

For nearly four decades, June B. Hamersma was one of Hospice of Michigan’s most devoted supporters. June’s legacy of support dates back to 1980 as a member of the board of Hospice of Greater Grand Rapids, our predecessor organization.

As a passionate champion of accessible hospice care, particularly not-for-profit care, June was the original advocate for Hospice of Michigan’s Open Access Program, determined to ensure that no one was ever turned way regardless of age, diagnosis or financial circumstances. In 1994, she inspired and founded a Hospice of Michigan fundraising unit dedicated to raising philanthropic support of our not-for-profit mission. In 2004, in recognition of her enduring commitment, Hospice of Michigan established the June B. Hamersma Legacy Giving Society.

Though June passed away in 2020, her belief in our mission continues to define and motivate our organization today throughout the state. We are forever grateful for her heartfelt support.
