Hospice of Michigan Northeast Region Earns 2023 Hospice Honors Elite Status

Not-for-profit honored with national recognition for excellence in comfort care

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Oct. 4, 2023) Hospice of Michigan has been recognized for providing exemplary care to patients and families across Michigan through the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) survey. With their continued excellence in comfort care, HOM’s Northeast Region earned 2023 Hospice Honors Elite status for the second time in the last five years.

Hospice Honors are based on results of the CAHPS survey from April 2022 through March 2023. Issued across a variety of health care disciplines, the CAHPS survey measures many aspects of consumer satisfaction over a six-month period, including communication skills of providers and ease of access to health care services. Hospice Honors Elite status honors hospices scoring above the HEALTHCAREfirst national average on 100% of the evaluated questions.

The Hospice Honors designation is a landmark compilation of hospices providing the best patient and caregiver experience. Established by HEALTHCAREfirst, this prestigious annual review recognizes hospices that continuously provide the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view.

All Hospice of Michigan families receive the evaluation highlighting 24 quality indicator measures following a loved one’s passing. HOM’s Northeast Region scored above the national average on more than 20 of the survey’s questions.

“The Hospice Honors Elite status comes as a result of consistent and genuine care for the wellbeing of Hospice of Michigan patients and families,” said HOM President and CEO Bob Cahill. “This recognition is a testament to our teams who support and believe in the not-for profit mission providing end-of-life care to every person, every time. We are honored to be highly-regarded by the patients and families we serve, and I’m immensely proud to be a part of such a compassionate organization of professionals whose exemplary teamwork was instrumental in earning this impressive designation.”
