Reimagined Crystal Rose Celebration Honors HOM Community Partners
Detroit, August 20, 2014 – Hospice of Michigan will host Sheds & Chandeliers, the 29th Annual Crystal Rose Celebration, on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the historic Ford Piquette Plant in Detroit.
The event, which has transitioned from the traditional black-tie dinner to a more casual, but elegant evening, honors community partners:

- Hiller’s Market
- Kids Kicking Cancer
“Sheds & Chandeliers gives us the opportunity to thank and recognize those who have made a difference in our organization,” said Robert Cahill, president and CEO of Hospice of Michigan. “We are very excited about this year’s theme, which comes from the industrial atmosphere of the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant.
“We’ve designed the event with the past, present and future in mind. We want to celebrate Detroit’s rich history of innovation, its resilience and its rebirth, all while inviting the support of longtime Hospice of Michigan donors and fostering new connections that will help secure the future.”
The strolling dinner event will take place at the Ford Plant located at 461 Piquette Ave. at 6:30p.m. The evening will offer guests the opportunity to explore the history of the Model T’s birthplace, walk the plank floors worn smooth by hundreds of pioneering autoworkers and view the cars that made Detroit famous. The evening also includes an open bar, complimentary valet parking and entertainment by Ben Sharkey, Detroit’s own jazz crooner.
A Crystal Rose Award will be presented to each honoree. The image of the rose honors HOM’s roots as a volunteer-based organization and an early practice of placing a single long-stemmed red rose on the bed of a patient after death in memory of their life.
Proceeds from the dinner will support HOM’s ongoing nonprofit mission to provide comfort and care to all those in need of its services, regardless of diagnosis, age or ability to pay.
