This past March, Northeast Michigan was hit by one of the worst ice storms in recent years. For more than 48 hours, thick sheets of ice covered everything—homes, roads, trees, and power lines. All you could hear were the sounds of cracking branches, limbs falling and claps of thunder. It didn’t matter whether you lived in the city or deep in the woods—roads were blocked. Gas stations shut down. Grocery stores closed. Entire towns went dark.
For some, it felt like the world stopped. Families were left without heat, without water, and without any clear sense of when help would arrive.
But help did arrive—because of you.
When it went dark, you helped bring the light.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, Hospice of Michigan was ready to respond with urgency and compassion. When families called for help in the middle of the night—scared and overwhelmed—Hospice of Michigan answered.

Care teams jumped into action to care for their patients: nurses drove through rough conditions—some driving an hour out of the area just to find gas, aides made emergency visits to check on vulnerable patients, and social workers brought food, water, and blankets to those with no other way to get them. They stayed strong, even while their own families were experiencing the same conditions. People checked in on each other, shared what they had, and found creative ways to keep going.
This is what Every Person, Every Time looks like in action. It’s more than a motto. It’s a promise. Regardless of the location, age, or circumstances, Hospice of Michigan will be there.
The Storm May Be Over, but Your Help Is Still Needed
A gift today ensures this kind of care—steady, compassionate, and immediate— is available in your community, not just during a storm, but every single day care is needed.
The commitment to Hospice of Michigan’s mission is strong, and the heart behind it is even stronger. With your support, Hospice of Michigan can be ready to respond and ready to face whatever comes next—with strength, heart, and unwavering purpose.
