National DAF Day: What will your DAF do?

Happy National DAF Day!

On October 8, 2026, nonprofits across the country are coming together to celebrate DAF Day, a national day of giving through Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs).

A recommendation from your donor-advised fund today helps ensure that Hospice of Michigan can continue providing comfort, dignity, and compassionate support to patients and families throughout the year.

What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is often described as a charitable savings account. Similar to a retirement account designed for giving, a DAF allows donors to set aside funds for charitable purposes and recommend grants to the nonprofit organizations they care about most.

While DAFs are already a powerful way to support charitable causes, DAF Day highlights the collective impact that can be made when donors across the country come together to give on the same day.

The Impact of Your DAF Gift

Your grant can help provide:

  • Compassionate end-of-life care for patients and families
  • Grief support services for loved ones after a loss
  • Specialized programs that address the unique needs of veterans, children, and underserved populations
  • Education and resources that strengthen clinical programs and enhance bedside care

We choose to give through our Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) because it transforms our immediate resources into a long-term lifeline for pediatric hospice care. Our DAF allows us to turn our gratitude and admiration for the clinical care team into a promise to help provide the resources they need to surround every family they serve with comfort, dignity and compassionate care.”

— Dr. and Mrs. James and Gail Fahner
