Charlotte's Wings
Charlotte's Wings, a nonprofit whose mission is to provide books to seriously ill children, donated 300 new books to lift hearts of young hospice patients. Based in Rochester, Michigan, Charlotte's Wings was founded in March 2008 in memory of Charlotte, who died at five months-of-age from a rare degenerative brain disease. Upon her death, her parents made a large donation of books to the pediatric unit of a local hospital. Charlotte's Wings was founded to continue and expand this initiative—donating books to children being cared for in hospitals and by hospices throughout Michigan.
To date, Charlotte's Wings has donated more than 12,000 books.
Fly and Remember
There are many ways to grieve. And grieving is a process that takes its own time and has its own way. Creating rituals to honor the memory of loved ones can help lift heavy hearts. Hospice of Michigan’s grief support services staff created a special kite-flying event called Fly and Remember where individuals who have lost a loved one come together to fly kites in memory of a loved one.
This event is just one of many ways that Hospice of Michigan works with patients and patient families to offer support, strength and guidance through the emotional challenges of loss. - More -
