What is Hospice?
Hospice is a concept of care designed to provide comfort and support
to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness such as
cancer, Alzheimer's, leukemia or HIV/AIDS no longer responds to
treatments. Hospice neither prolongs life nor hastens death, but when
science can no longer add more days to a person's life, hospice can add
more life to each day. Hospice staff and volunteers offer specialized
medical care, including pain management and symptom relief, to improve
the quality of a patient's last days. Hospice of Michigan is proud to be a non-profit hospice
providing this Open Access policy. We believe everyone has a right to
peace, compassion, dignity and comfort at the end of life. Thank you
for helping to support our mission.
