Hospice of Michigan announces Statewide Photography Contest for 3rd - 12th Grades and Community Members
Capturing the magic of life through the eyes of a child.
(GRAND RAPIDS, MI) To launch its 2004 fundraiser, The Big Picture Project, HOSPICE OF MICHIGAN is conducting a statewide photography contest to encourage community participation in The Big Picture Project and to build awareness for Hospice of Michigan's Pediatric Hospice Program. The contest is separated into two sections, school age children grades 3-12 and community participants. Participants in the contest may select to photograph any subject matter that reflects one of Hospice's four components: peace, compassion, dignity, or comfort. Entrants are also required to submit (in 50 words or less) an explanation of their photo. 20 winning photos will be selected, printed and framed, and displayed at a photo exhibit, along with Hospice of Michigan pediatric family photos.

Dr. James B. Fahner wins community quarterback award for Hospice of Michigan pediatrics
(GRAND RAPIDS, MI) James B. Fahner, MD has been selected as one of the eight finalists for the 2003 William Clay Ford Community Quarterback Award sponsored by the NFL and PARADE Magazine. The nationwide winner will be announced at the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004. Fahner was awarded a grant of $1,250 to benefit Hospice of Michigan's Pediatric Program, a program he helped start with the help of DeVos Children's Hospital in 1996.

Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan awards $700.00
(ALPENA, MICH) The Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan recently awarded $700 in
grant funding to Hospice of Michigan to support its efforts to improve the quality of life at
the end of life for terminally ill patients and their families. Last year, Hospice of Michigan
spent $3,361 on quality of life services in northeastern Michigan.

Area businesses and civic groups team up to support Hospice of Michigan
(ALPENA, MI) The fourth annual Hearts for Hospice fundraiser kicks off on
Mon., Feb. 3 with the sale of hearts at area businesses. Neiman's Market, Ripley Street Station and Pizza
Hut will have hearts available for a $1 donation to Hospice of Michigan. Hearts will hang in
the windows throughout February. All proceeds benefit terminally ill patients and their
