Hospice of Michigan Achieves ACHC Accreditation

Detroit, January 30, 2015 – Hospice of Michigan has received accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, or ACHC, for its hospice services.

Accreditation by ACHC demonstrates compliance with national standards and reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care. ACHC collaborates with industry experts to create standards to ensure that quality is maintained throughout all aspects of an organization.

ACHC conducts on-site surveys every three years.  A comprehensive review is conducted of organizational structure, policies and procedures, compliance with federal, state and local laws, leadership, patient rights and responsibilities, fiscal operations, human resource management, provision of care, patient records, quality outcomes, performance improvement, infection control and patient-employee safety.

Hospice of Michigan is the state’s original – and largest – hospice, providing care for more than 1,700 patients each day. The nonprofit offers a broad range of services to enhance the quality of life at the end of life, including At Home Support™, our advanced illness management program, community-based palliative care and pediatric care programs.

ACHC is a not-for-profit that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986.
