Robert Cahill
Executive Vice President
Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Financial Officer
Robert Cahill is directly responsible for all financial affairs including; accounting and general ledger work, accounts payable, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, payroll, and patient financial services. In addition he has operational responsibility for work life services, information services, property management, purchasing, legal affairs, contracts, the triage and admission call center, and mergers and acquisitions.
Being the lead member of the Executive Team, he responsible for the strategic
results of the organization. He also supports the CEO in directing and providing
guidance in all areas of Operations including providing leadership development
and effective coaching of the other Executive Team members.
Mr. Cahill joined Hospice of Michigan as vice president of finance and chief
financial officer in May of 1998. A year later he was promoted to Senior Vice
President and in July of 2009 he was promoted to his current position.
Mr. Cahill brings a well-rounded background of hands on experience in finance,
operations, sales and marketing in the following industries; healthcare, managed
care, insurance and banking/finance.
Before coming to HOM, he spent two years as vice president of operations at
Value Health’s largest division, the Great Lakes Region in Southfield. Value’s
Great Lakes Region is a managed-care operation responsible for managing care on
3.5 million lives and had become the most successful region for the corporation
during his tenure.
Prior to Value Health he was vice president, chief operating officer and chief
financial officer at Insight Recovery Centers, the largest mental health and
substance abuse organization in Michigan. He helped this multi-site non-profit
flourish, grow and diversify itself for 13 years. Mr. Cahill spearheaded several
acquisitions and a start-up computer service company.
Other positions include four years as executive vice president of operations for
American Way Life Insurance Company during a period when the company went
through a 400-percent growth. During that time he was heavily involved in
overseeing sales and marketing as well as general operations. Mr. Cahill also
spent two years as controller, then director of operations for Great Lakes
Recreation Corporation.
Mr. Cahill received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University
and did his graduate work at Central Michigan University.
Mr. Cahill has and/or is currently serving on several community and business
boards including; Data Bank Computer Services, Axxon Computer Services, American
Way Life Insurance Company, Community Recovery Services, Clayton K. Stroup
Foundation, Individualized Home Nursing Care, Hospice of Michigan Foundation,
American Society of Employers, Eastern Michigan University Regional Business
School Board, the National Hospice Work Group and the Michigan Hospice and
Palliative Care Association board.
