Pediatric Hospice provides comfort and care to children living with life-limiting conditions. Hospice helps families make the best decisions for their children when a cure is unlikely. The goal of care is to enhance the child’s quality of life as defined by the child and family. Children in hospice usually receive all of their care in their own home because it is at home where children typically feel the most comfort, security and control. The pediatric team works together with the child and family to develop an individualized plan of care to meet each child’s unique needs. The care plan includes medical, nursing, psychosocial and spiritual support along with home health aides and volunteer services as desired and appropriate.

Through the HOM Perinatal Program, medical/nursing, emotional and spiritual support will also be offered to families anticipating life-threatening conditions for their unborn child. In such circumstances, our compasssionate services are available to families during pregnancy, miscarriage or stillbirth, labor, birth, and bereavement.

There is no charge to parents who enroll their unborn child/family for services under the Perinatal program. Parents may choose to enroll in the traditional pediatric hospice program after the birth of the child.
